New York City.
It’s True! It’s True! I bought my ticket to go to New York City last week! And have been quietly savoring it to myself. I know travel these days is pretty accessible and is not looked upon as very special these days. And we’ve all been reluctantly exposed to everyone’s photo dumps on Facebook or Instagram:) But, I still have that mindset that travel is a privilege and a sacred adventure of collecting memories, not just photo’s to share on social media.
I have been dreaming of NYC since I can remember, almost as long as Paris if anyone knows me in person. They have always been kind of intertwined and to finally know one of the destinations is in the works. Is definitely beyond exciting, but I am a little nervous that all my daydreaming might hinder the reality. Yet, I am hopeful that it in the end it will surprise me. I’m trying to go with no expectations and a loose itinerary. I will be leaving Austin, Texas on December 8th and returning back on the 12th. It will be a short visit, but a visit nonetheless.
The reason I am finally going to NYC is for my 50th Birthday on the 9th! Oh, I am so grateful that I am still here and want to do something that honors all the years I have been gifted. I would rather travel than party it up. Be in a cooler climate again, walk for miles and miles. Stare up at the skyscrapers, drink coffee, eat bagels, take photos of the holiday lights and write in my traveler’s journal.
I will be staying in the Bronx with my Best Friend Jeff’s cousin and her Boyfriend. I am excited to see them as well though I will be mostly adventuring solo. I am currently trying to figure out what I want to see and do. Creating my little itinerary of must do’s with a little room for exploring… reminding me that the planning is almost as fun as the trip itself.
Love, Cynthia
