Bible in a year/The Patriarchs.

@storyboardc

As I am writing this, the Texas heat has subsided in the mornings and I am enjoying my writing sessions in the garage. Yes, the garage. Folks down here create patio like digs in their garages. Tables, TV’s and even Bar’s. It’s like the Midwest basements for hangouts with a breeze. I actually like it and serves me well. Great morning ritual with my coffee, papers, pens and laptop.

This morning on my mind is updating you on my journey into The Bible in a Year with Ascension present’s led by Father Mike Schmitz. I am currently began Egypt and Exodus of the Timeline, which is coded with the color Red for the Red Sea. I love the Bible timeline series, it makes reading and listening so much easier. Don’t get me wrong it still can be daunting and confusing, but Father Mike’s commentary helps bring it home.

Patriarchs

The first word that comes to mind is Brokenness. I was shocked at times, who needs a reality series if you can read the Bible. I often compared it to now and how divided our world is with brokenness. It’s not a new thing for sure. A true brokenness created by separation from God. But, it was beautiful at times to read the stories of the Faithful that kept trying despite making mistakes and God never giving up. The Bible is definitely our story, I found so much connection among these holy pages with our ancestors from ages ago. Ah Job and Leah! I could just imagine their challenges and pains. It truly makes me want to set some more time to delve deeper and prayerfully read vs. listening. But, the one thing about this series, Father Mike gives us permission to show up as we can. Right now Listening and taking quick notes in The Bible in the Year companion or writing these little reflections is the best I can do most days.

I will see you back here for Egypt and Exodus.

Love, Cynthia
